09-24-2011, 13:51
In the second straight preseason games between the cross river rivals, the Rangers found a way to pull out a 4-3 victory at the Rock in New Jersey. This was the first game for Brad Richards in a Rangers jersey and his presence was felt on the ice last night. He scored a goal, an extremely nice goal, in the first off assists from Marion Gaborik and Wojtek Wolski. The other Ranger goals came from Marion Gaborik, Derek Stepan, and Brandon Bell. Mike Rupp dropped the gloves with Eric Boulton, which led to Brandon Bell finding the back of the net shortly after to give the Rangers the 4-3 edge. Marty Biron was strong in net and Richards, Gaborik, Wolski, Stepan, Mats Zuccarello, and Brandon Bell all looked great.

Defenseman Pavel Valentenko is one of the cuts who has to clear through waivers before being assigned to Connecticut. There have been rumblings that he may head back to Russia instead. The Ranger 10th overall pick in 2010 Dylan McIlrath is still with the team, although he isn't quite NHL ready, with the injury to Marc Staal, the teams defensive core is still up in the air. JT Miller, this year's 15th overall pick is headed back to the OHL, however, his future sure does look bright. In a piece of who cares news, Wade Redden was placed on waivers, even after not being invited to the team's camp. The only time Wade Redden news will be newsworthy is if some one actually claims him off waivers. Here is a breakdown of the entire roster transactions the Rangers made today:
