View Full Version : Lundqvist Dominant, Rangers take 2-1 series lead.

In a match that drew eerie parallels to Game 1, the Rangers surged in the third period, breaking a scoreless tie and running away with a 3-0 win at the Prudential Center for a 2-1 series lead. It was Deja Vu all over again for the BlueShirts and the Devils. It was scoreless through 2 periods at the Rock before once again the Rangers caught fire in the 3rd period. It all started when Rangers Defensemen Dan Girardi ripped a wrist shot past Martin Brodeur for a power-play goal at 3:19 to give the Rangers a 1-0 lead. Shortly after the Rangers rookie sensation Chris Kreider added his fifth goal of the playoffs on a deflection of Ryan McDonagh's point shot at 5:16. It was 2-0 Rangers with 15 minutes to go in the 3rd and the game rested on Henrik Lundqvist's shoulders. He was the player of the game and was the reason the Rangers won the game. The Vezina and Hart trophy finalist made 36 stops in his second shutout of the series -- another sensational performance that the Rangers would've been ashamed to waste. He stopped all 36 shots he faced and stopped Devils snipeIlya Kovalchuk on a breakaway not once but twice. It was both a great showing of offensive and defensive showing for the Rangers and it gives them mojo heading into Game 4. If the Rangers want to win this series they have to come out flying in Game 4 and not flat like they did in Game 2.

Next Game: Rangers @ Devils 8 p.m. Monday.
