Dorned in his usual Sunday Red Tiger Woods took the 1st tee at the At & T National at Congressional with only one thing in mind, win #74. It would make him the stand alone number 2 on the all-time PGA tour wins list in front of the great Jack Nicklas. A dream of Tiger's when he was a boy. Woods eliminated a one-shot deficit almost immediately, and held the lead most of the afternoon as he pulled free of most of the field. Only Bo Van Pelt kept pace with Woods, but you know how these stories always end. Woods ended his round 2 under for a total of -8 for the tournement. Woods absolutley desserved this win. He went 41 straight holes without carding a bogey. He ended up getting one on the 16th hole but it was a great bogey save. It would end up being the winning stroke for Tiger and his 74th win. This win kind of brought us all back to the old Tiger we used to know. Woods had moment after moment that brought back memories of days gone by, whether sinking putts practically from the steps of the Capitol, an approach shot where he wrapped his club around a tree and still found the green for par, a generous gift to a fan struck with a tee shot, a chip from eight feet below the green that dinged the flag stick on 16. This round alone had more highlights than Woods has produced in any tournament in many a year. "What an incredible week," said Woods. That quote by Tiger summed up the whole tournement. It was incredible to watch Tiger play the way he did. Woods won for the third time this year, the most of anyone on the PGA Tour. And now is the leader in Fed Ex Cup points, and the leader on the money list. Tiger is riding high right now and is playing great golf heading into next weeks challenge The Greenbrier Classic. If you still don't think that Tiger Woods is back, well then this puts him on the cusp of it.
