The New York Islanders beat the Tampa Bay Lightning. It was a slow game but a thrilling finish. Tampa took an early 1-0 lead but the Islanders came back late in the third period to force overtime. But overtime wouldn't do it and it fell to a shoot out with Kevin Poulin making great saves to help the Isles win on the road. They have won 7 of their last 8 road games. They currently sit 7 points out of a playoff position and captain John Tavares leads the team with 57 points (21G 36A). They play again Monday, January 20th against second place divisional rival, the Philadelphia Flyers.
