The NHL Playoffs have arrived!

The NHL playoffs are arguably the most intense games to watch. NHL playoffs are a real battle. A 7-game series with a 2-2-1-1-1 format. The NY Rangers are playing the Philadelphia Flyers. This is the first time these two teams met in the playoffs since 1997.

The Philadelphia Flyers (42-30-10, 94 pts) and New York Rangers(45-31-6, 96 pts)

This might be the best 1st round series in the NHL. The first game will set the tone of this series. The Flyers are a tough, physical team, and this will be a series that will probably take 6 or 7 games to complete. The Rangers have to score some goals on this team. Nash and St. Louis have to come through this series and the Rangers have to protect these guys when the Flyers go after them.

"I think there is a level of hatred by our players to their players, their fans to our fans just being so close and the history behind both franchises…It's going to be a battle"

- Scott Hartnell

This is going to be an emotional series. The Flyers are going to try to abuse the Rangers. The Rangers have to remain disciplined and not retaliate. The Flyers have the best power play on the road in the NHL with 25.2%, however, the Flyers are going to take a lot of penalties, as usual, they had the most penalty minutes per game this year with 14.4. The Rangers have to convert on these penalties and make something happen. This is where Martin St.Louis comes in to play. The Rangers penalty kill % was 3rd best in the NHL this season with a 85.3%

This season the Flyers and Rangers played 4 times against each other. The Flyers won 2 games at home as well as the Rangers. The Rangers have won 8 consecutive games at MSG, and have outscored the Flyers 31-9 in those 8 games. Henrik Lundqvist in those last 8 games is 8-0-0 with a 1.13 GAA, .960%, and recorded 2 shutouts.

Big Factors...

McDonagh, Girardi vs Hartnell, Giroux, Voracek
Can the Rangers first line defense stop the Flyers first line offense?

Ray Emery
Can the Flyers goaltender perform in the playoffs?

Martin St.Louis
Can he pull through and score some goals in these games?

Henrik Lundqvist
30-37 Playoff record. Will he ever win a cup?
